Ford's Jim Farley wants the Fiesta hatchback in the US

Until recently, Ford had only planned to sell the new Fiesta small car as a sedan in the US market. Judging from the reaction of readers in the comments here when we showed photos of the production version of the car, which is based on the Verve concept, most people disagreed. The vast majority of commenters chiming in said that they wanted the stylish little hatchback. Apparently, they aren't alone. When the Verve sedan concept appeared at the Detroit Auto Show, it was supposed to be shown alone. A last-minute change of plans was prompted by new Ford marketing chief, Jim Farley, who insisted that the original three-door hatchback concept from the Frankfurt show be displayed as well. The hatchback concept was on a European tour and was detoured for a stateside visit to judge reaction from American showgoers. It now looks like there is indeed a very good chance that the hatchback will be offered to US drivers in addition to the sedan.

Detroit 2008: Ford Verve Sedan drops (literally) in D-town

Ford's Verve Sedan concept rappelled to the ground in a smoky haze here in Detroit and the four-door concept proved to be a bit more squat, and less dynamic, in person. The Kinetic design language melds well with the compact sedan, looking more like a Mondeo at 2/3rds scale, which isn't a bad thing. But we're hoping for something a bit more sporting (like it's little brother that ran around the stage) and the Verve didn't quite deliver.

Spy Photos: 2009 Ford Verve - Slightly obscured but camo free!Although we saw versions strongly camouflaged of the replacement of the fiesta of Ford during several months, it was only it has been two weeks that we obtained our first official glance with the concept of Ford Verve. Now, an attentive photographer controlled with the tear a projectile of what seems to be the model of series in a workshop some share by a barrier of chain-bond and a reflective window. The new image shows a four-door version which looks at remarkably close to the concept to the majority of the regards. The shape of the headlights, the shock absorbers and the rear lights seem almost identical. There is perhaps slightly less upsweep in the line of conveyors on this version, but the spot of glances of rest above. The model of series of Verve/de fiesta if next the March beginning in Geneva with European sales giving a kick to far soon then. North America will obtain new small Ford for 2009.

frankfurt 2007 ford verve concept visits the stage
Ford of of Europe upcoming new small car sake no doubt contain like „kinetic “Design language the automaker, and the Verve concept is to see for us before, what it looks. The Verve is actually meant really, in order to out-get Rückgespräch, which finally forms the final production form. What good or is bad over the Design? Away in the notes sound, as Ford hears. For our part during we were always a fan „the kinetic “Design language, take the Verve those references and set them in motion to 11, particularly at the front end with this grill up-closing the mouth. The Iosis spurred headlights become always estimated, but on the small small nose of the Verve they are an overwhelming point. That said, we would estimate those elements, down-been correct to be, before she strikes the showroom, a very stately could be production car so there, within this concept itself hidden. more ...
